New Musical Goldstein to Open at the Actors Temple

Goldstein, a new musical about the challenges and triumphs of an immigrant Jewish-American family, will debut Off-Broadway at the Actors Temple Theatre beginning March 26. The story, inspired by Charlie Schulman’s 1998 play The Kitchen, traces 90 years of secrets, sacrifices, and love lost and found.

Goldstein features music and lyrics by Michael Roberts and a book by Schulman. The Off-Broadway production is directed by Brad Rouse, with musical staging by Sarah O’Gleby, and will officially open April 5.

Casting will be announced at a later date.

Schulman’s play The Kitchen was presented at the National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in 1998 and is the inspiration for Goldstein. Songwriter Roberts is best known as the creator of the Off-Broadway comedy Golf: The Musical.

Tickets are $79 and are available by visiting or by calling (212) 239-6200.
